Honey BBQ Mangorita

I don’t know about you, but the words mango margarita remind me of summer, relaxing by the pool with a cold drink, soaking up the rays, and maybe even taking in the smells from a nearby smoker at a backyard party. But I’m not the only one who gets inspired by this classic beverage. Jimmy Buffet would approve that sipping this mango margarita is best accompanied by the songs of Steely Dan “Everything Must Go”, Prince “Get Yo’ Groove On”, The Traveling Wilburys “Margarita”, and Buffet himself, the uncontested king of lazy margarita Sundays “Margaritaville”. The classic drink has seen many twists over time, but this mango margarita is definitely a winning mix. Far beyond what you’d expect from this already legendary libation, the tangy mango and passionfruit blend perfectly with the sweet heat of Simon Barbecue’s Roasted Honey BBQ rub to make this mango margarita your new summer favorite.
- Wet the edge of your serving glass with a lime wedge. Pour a thin layer of Roasted Honey Rub in a plate and rotate the glass upside down in the plate to rim the edge.
- In a blender, combine frozen diced mango, ice cubes, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur and cane sugar. Blend until smooth.
- Half fill the rimmed glass with margarita, add the flesh and seeds of a passion fruit, then pour in the rest of the margarita mix. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and serve.
